Choose the right Lisar setup path

Lisar uses standard setup paths rather than requiring a proprietary Lisar app. Start with L2TP/IPsec where the target operating system, router or firmware, and current network make it compatible and appropriate. Use OpenVPN where L2TP/IPsec is unavailable, unsupported, or unsuitable.

Android guidance emphasizes OpenVPN only within current L2TP/IPsec platform or client availability limits. This selection rule is based on compatibility, not a performance or security ranking.

L2TP/IPsec where compatible and appropriate

Use the L2TP/IPsec guide when the target device or compatible router and current network support that setup. Enter only the exact profile-specific connection information shown in the Lisar Panel.

OpenVPN where L2TP/IPsec does not fit

Where L2TP/IPsec is unavailable, unsupported, or unsuitable, download the Lisar .ovpn file, open OpenVPN Connect, choose Upload File, import or save the profile, then connect.

Use the existing Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android guides for supported OpenVPN client environments. Each detailed guide remains the owner of its device-specific steps.

Router and network device setup

Router setup requires a compatible VPN client mode; VPN server mode alone is not sufficient. Compatibility depends on the exact model, firmware, protocol support, configuration options, and current network.
