Set up Lisar on a Chromebook
ChromeOS has its own VPN settings. Use a compatible built-in connection or an appropriate third-party client; the Lisar Android phone app is not a supported Chromebook download.
Check the Chromebook first
Managed school and work Chromebooks may restrict VPN settings or application installation. Follow the administrator's policy. Google Play availability also varies by model and configuration; a Chromebook that runs Linux apps is not automatically a device that can install every Android VPN app.
Open your active Lisar profile in the panel and check which connection details are available. Start with L2TP/IPsec when supported and appropriate. Use the alternative only when the client can accept the actual profile.
Built-in L2TP/IPsec
Google documents built-in L2TP/IPsec support. In ChromeOS Settings, open Network → Add connection → Add built-in VPN, select the compatible L2TP/IPsec type, and enter the server and authentication values from the active Lisar profile. Save and connect, then check the VPN status.
A pre-shared key is separate from the VPN user password. Leave optional fields unchanged unless your profile requires them. If a required value is unavailable, contact Lisar support instead of copying it from another setup guide.
OpenVPN profile-file alternative
The built-in ChromeOS OpenVPN client has limited configuration support. Google points users who need .ovpn import to a compatible Android OpenVPN client when Play Store support is available. Use that client's official listing and confirm it is supported on your Chromebook before installing.
Download your active Lisar profile file, import it using the client's file option, approve the VPN request and connect. Check Chrome browsing afterward. If the client cannot import the configuration, do not extract keys into guessed fields or disable certificate validation.
Browser traffic and other applications
Confirm the connection from ChromeOS or the client rather than treating an open browser as proof. Routing can vary with split-tunnel settings, application type and device policy. If you use Android or Linux-container applications as well as Chrome, verify the traffic path of each one you depend on.
A Chromebook browser extension and a system VPN are different connection methods. This guide does not offer a Lisar extension. For a device where neither supported local route is available, check a compatible router connection or ask support about your exact model.
