When to use L2TP/IPsec

L2TP/IPsec is a fallback setup path for environments where it is supported and appropriate. It should not replace the recommended OpenVPN .ovpn file flow when OpenVPN setup is available for your device.

Use the exact connection information shown in the Lisar panel for your profile.

Values you need from Lisar

Before starting, confirm that your Lisar profile supports L2TP/IPsec fallback setup. Use only the server, account and IPsec values shown in the Lisar panel.

Do not guess server names, shared keys or profile values.

Generic L2TP/IPsec setup flow

Open the VPN settings on your device or operating system. Choose L2TP/IPsec where available, then enter the connection values shown in the Lisar panel.

The exact field names vary between operating systems, but the setup should use the profile-specific values shown in Lisar.

Common fallback issues

If the connection fails, confirm that your device still supports L2TP/IPsec, that the values were copied correctly, and that your profile is active.

Some networks, devices or operating systems may restrict L2TP/IPsec behavior. In those cases, use OpenVPN setup where possible.
